N.E.A.T or Non-exercise activity thermogenesis, refers to the amount of energy you burn throughout the day when you’re not sleeping, eating or exercising.
This makes up large part of your day if you sleep for 8 hours, exercise for 1 hour and spend 1 hour a day eating then you have 14 hours left to be moving around!
If you can burn an extra 300-400 calories a day by walking to the station in the morning, walking the dog for longer, doing a few hours of gardening, this will add up to an extra 2100-2800 calories burnt across the week which will make a big difference if you’re trying to shift some weight before the summer!
How could you increase your NEAT this week?
